Methoblogger Mashup in Alabama March 14th

I'm planning on being in Huntsville to see Bishop Willimon speak about the Wesley Study Bible.  Any one going to join me?  Let me know at candlemb(at)bellsouth(dot)net.

Thanks!

Methoblogger Mashup in Alabama? March 7 or 14?

John M says:

Will Willimon will be leading two “discussions” about reading the Bible like a Wesleyan. He says the event is open to ALL interested pastors and lay persons. Of course, we all know that by “all” he means me. So, who is up for a road trip to Birmingham, Alabama? There are two dates, March 7 and March 14.

Do you think the bishop would be amuzed by a mess of Methobloggers showing up to hear him discuss the Wesley Study Bible?

I say "Let's go!"  Which date is best??

Congress on Evangelism

I want to go to the 2009 Congress on Evanglism. Bishop Schnase's book is being used as the framework (5 Fruitful Practices) and I would love to have a group dinner with him either before or after the event with all us Methoblogger.

Who is game? I would also like to see a hospitality suite for Methobloggers of some sort -- even if I have to use my hotel room for such. (OK, I'll get an addtional hotel room and ask for donations!)  Jay and Gavin were so good at arranging things last time -- do we have time to arrange something for this year?  I notice that there is a Web-presence workshop being offered -- however I (personally) have not run into these individuals -- maybe this year the Methoblogosphere can just be there as a presence and we can attend the other workshops.

Additionally, I also want either a person to ride with me from Atlanta and/or a hotel roommate.

Anyone?

A Message from John Wesley

I have received a letter from Rev. John Wesley, which I will reproduce here.

Dearest and Most Esteemed Readers,
I wish to thank you for your faithfulness and the editors of this humble compendium would like to announce that beginning September 1, 2008 the Journals of John Wesley will begin afresh, with multiple other voices and testimonies added daily so that his modern readers may better understand the world of John Wesley and in particular his trips to the colony of Georgia.
Many fascinating and intriguing pieces information will be interleaved with the Journal of John Wesley including letters from his family, letters of others of the Georgia Colony including James Oglethorpe, along with contemporary and illustrative material and multiple graphics.
I would entertain suggestions on how to best advertise this humble endeavor.
I thank you for your generous and kind attention and may God bless you and keep you.

Question of the Day

What makes a church congregation "healthy"?  How do you measure or quantify that?

Did it pass?

Like "Does it Blend?" Methodist style.

Did 81157 pass?  I'm reading blog entries like it did -- It appears it passed in committee.  Did it make it to the floor and did it pass?

Inquiring minds want to know...

To Piggyback on Gavin's entry

Dear All,

Watching General Conference 2008 in community within the medium of Second LIfe has been such a blessing.  We have had jokes and laughter as well as excellent and thoughtful reflections on the actions of General Conference.

Tonight is the final working evening for GC2008; the closing worship service will start tomorrow, May 2 at 3:15 Central time.  Please join us in community tonight at 10:00 pm Eastern Time (9:00 Central, 7:00 Second Life time) to watch the final working hours of GC2008.

Tomorrow, we will gather together at 3:30 Eastern Time tomorrow for a short prayer session before the final Worship Service of GC2008 starts at 4:15 Eastern, 3:15 Central or 1:15 Second Life time.

To enter Second Life, you will need to register at www.Secondlife.com and download the client.  The orientation for Second Life will take anywhere between 15 minutes to 30 minutes -- when you are finished, IM myself (ReverendMommy Rabeni) or Gavin Richardson (Gavin Tellig) for a Teleport invitation to the build.  If you want to find it for yourself, the build is on Xenia Island and is just North of Koinonia Church.

Thanks and I hope to see you there!

Heartfelt

Funny that I came here to post something I found on teh interwebs and lo and behold, Gavin is posting a reference to teh same posting.
The portion of Steve Rankin's posting that spoke to me was:
I know that this is how politics works and I guess, most of the time, I'm quite OK with it working this way. But when I see the emotion permeating this particular vote; when I watch people weep after the vote because, once again, they feel that the church has spurned them or someone they love, I think to myself, "There has to be a better way to deal with this issue."

Indeed, there has to be a better way.

Watching GC2008 in Second Life

Dear all,
I am watching the video stream from GC2008 in the UM Meeting House on Xenia in Second Life.  If you wish to join me, I'll be there off and on all day today, tomorrow and so forth.
Come join me and discuss the goings on.

If you need a Teleport, just add me as a friend and I'll send you a TP.  "ReverendMommy Rabeni"
