Psalm 72:14
He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
Oppression is the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner. My kids might say that they are oppressed but oppression is a serious problem even in America in 2013.
Just do a google search on sex-trafficking, and you will discover that Atlanta is the number one hub for human trafficking in the US. It is a real problem with real faces of men, women, and children who make this crime a monstrosity.
But how do those of us who are naive to these things seek to end oppression?
1) Find your cause: slavery, sex trafficking, genocide.. think about what you want to see gone the most and start there.
2) Find others that share your cause: look for web sites that might support your cause: http://www.endhumantrafficking.org/get-involved/individual-action, http://www.fairtradeusa.org/ are both good ones to get started with.
3) Take a step: Donate, write a letter, spread the word. Sometimes that's all it takes for outrage to take the power away from those in authority to commit such crimes.
Until Everyone Hears,
