Sacredise: The Martyrs Project

Original post at http://sacredise.com/blog/?p=1229

I received an email this week alerting me to a new music project called The Martyrs Project. It’s a collaborative effort of musicians – some well-known, some not so well-known – from a variety of religious backgrounds. As the site says the project was "born out of love – love for the Church, love for music and, perhaps most importantly, love for friends." Along with the music, the album has liner notes explaining the history and lives of the martyrs who are remembered through the songs. Here is a video of their tribute to Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador.

I love this explanation, from the website, of the purpose of this project. "It is a call to know the past and transform the present; to find purpose in life from the question asked of us all: WHAT WOULD YOU DIE FOR?"
