This Christmas season we reflect on life. One life. The life of Jesus.
This time of year has particular significance as it was the start of God taking the form of man and his journey for redemption and restoration of us to him.
How have so many in the western world today managed to change the focus? Today so much of the focus of Christmas is on trees, lights, decorations, gifts, food, Black Friday sales, cyber Monday deals and who can get the best parking spot at Wal-Mart. I’ve affectionately termed it “Consumeristmas”.
We can change that. we can re-shift the focus. We can choose to be reminded of all that The Lord has done for us. We can choose to think outside of ourselves. We can choose to be known for generosity and helping the poor and downtrodden. We can model Jesus for this broken world.
How? Here’s a very tangible and easy way.
We all need and enjoy food right? Scientists say that we can live for about three weeks without food. Most of us can’t even go three hours and we most likely would never last three weeks.
This Christmas season let’s reach out to the poor and be known for our generosity via our Prepare The Meal campaign. As little as $.05, yes a nickel, can provide a nutritious meal for a child or adult in need. Your gift can feed a person, a family or even an entire village. Imagine giving the gift of nourishment to someone who may not have eaten in over a week.
100% of your tax-deductible gift will go to those that are being helped.
May The Lord continue to bless you and your family this Christmas season and beyond.
