Grand Rapids District: Coopersville UMC: Alive Youth Group

Original post at http://www.grdistrictumc.org/2012/12/coopersville-alive-youth-group/

On Saturday, December 1, the Coopersville UMC ALIVE Youth Group held a bake sale on the corner of Eastmanville and Main St in Coopersville. The kids were raising money in order to buy gifts for teenagers to be donated to the Coopersville Cares Toys-For-Tots Drive.

When they were planning this fundraiser, their goal was $500, thinking they would be able to purchase some wonderful gifts for teens in their own community. Everyone was astounded when we not only met our goal, but surpassed it by far. The kids were able to go out and purchase over $1100 worth of toys and gifts cards to help make Christmas special for many kids in this community.

The ALIVE Youth Group, and Coopersville UMC, would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped to make this bake sale such a wonderful success. We would like to thank the community for coming out and purchasing our baked goods, as well as to thank all those who baked and donated for this sale. A special thank you also goes to the City of Coopersville and the Coopersville & Marne Railway for allowing our sale to take place in their parking lot, on such a busy intersection. I would also like to thank the ALIVE Youth, and adults, that put so much time, energy, and prayer into this project.

The church and this community are truly blessed to have such a bunch of people so willing to serve and help others.
