A reworking of the 13th Psalm for today…

How long, O Lord? Will you forget us for ever?
How long will you hide your face from us?
How long must we bear such pain in our collective soul,
and carry such sorrow in our hearts?
How long shall evil be allowed to triumph over the innocent?

Consider and answer us, O Lord our God!
Give light to our eyes, or we may turn and walk a different path,
and the world might say, ‘what good is God?’;
and we might respond with deafening silence.

Help us to trust in your steadfast love,
help us understand, heal, and hope.
For we want to become living songs,
music that resounds with your love.

Especially for times like these…

- a heavily redacted version of the 13th Psalm of David
