Settle yourself into whatever position is most comfortable for you. Breathe in slowly to a count of five, then exhale slowly to a count of five. Keep breathing in deeply and slowly.
Begin to gently shrug your shoulders and let them release any tension. Notice your body. do you feel pain or tension? Offer those things up to God in prayer.
Read the following Scripture slowly, 3-4 times. Each time you read it, ask God to speak into your heart through his Word. Journal any words or phrases that stand out to you or any invitations you sense from God.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Begin your prayer time by checking in with yourself. Are there any troubling thoughts or anxieties on your mind? Take time to feel each one, one at a time. When an anxious thought rises up, offer that worry to God.
Picture yourself holding your anxious thought loosely in your hands, walking to the feet of Jesus, and placing it before Him like an offering. When you have placed your anxious thoughts at his feet, ask Him to fill you with his peace that endures and is unaffected by any circumstance or situation.
As you pray through this exercise, continue breathing in and out slowly and deeply. When your anxious thoughts come to a rest and you feel you are at a stopping point, imagine God’s peace washing over you like warm water, rising from your toes to the crown of your head. As the water of peace rises, Breathe in God’s grace and breathe out gratitude to the Lord.
