Jessica Ireland, a General Conference lay delegate from Iowa, was hit by a car while walking to tonight’s plenary session. The Rev. Brian Milford of the Iowa Conference delegation told General Conference delegates that she was conscious when placed in the ambulance that took her to the hospital, but he had no official condition report. “Please keep her and those who are tending to her in your prayers,” Rev. Milford said.
A spokesman for the Iowa Conference said later tonight that the injuries are not life-threatening, and appeared, at least initially, confined to the ankle. He noted that members of the delegation, including a registered nurse, are with her at a local hospital.
